Transilvania Fest aims to develop, organize and implement an event that would support community development (tourism and trade) in the Transylvania region. The festival addresses not only the local communities but, to an equal extent all of those interested in the local traditions and products. Its strategy focuses on promoting traditions and customs from Transylvania while contributing to increase the number of tourists from Romania and abroad.
Transilvania Fest is:
- organizing a series of demonstrations and competitions for traditional cuisine, for members of local communities, assisted by internationally recognized food professionals
- tastings of local products: wine, cheese, honey, pastry, smoked meat, jam, pickle, etc.
- revitalizing the traditions of Transylvanian craftsmen by organizing traditional craft
- demonstrations: spinning, embroidery, harness-making, pottery, wood carving, wicker-work,
- wood painting, folk costume decoration, etc.
- promoting traditional cultures by showcasing young people’s folk dance groups from Transylvania
- featuring a children’s area, where children are encouraged to take part in educational activities
- involving traditional food tasting, traditional crafts, conservation of folk costumes and the environmental use of local products
- setting up an animal area featuring: horses, goats, cattle and pigs, all from local households
- entertaining young adults with a wide range of activities designed to attract and challenge:
- open air activities in association with open air cinema, tasting and cookery competitions, weaving etc.

With the sixth annual festival, Transilvania Fest became a travelling festival: focused in the previous years on Ariesului Valley (the cities of Campia Turzii, Turda and then Cluj) and previously known as Turda Fest. Due to it’s popularity and request to replicate the festival we rebranded the festival Transilvania Fest. Transilvania Fest offers a program that combines support for popular tradition with more contemporary forms of community involvement.
